Virginia Tech men’s basketball coach Mike Young has a lot of work to do this off-season with the transfer portal. So does just about any team, for that matter, but one ACC school that was eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday is rumored to have a large amount of cash to spend in the portal.
Louisville coach Pat Kelsey will reportedly have $8-10 million this off-season for the portal to add players, according to Pete Nakos of On3. This comes right after the Cardinals went from the bottom of the ACC standings last season to an 18-2 record in Year 1 of Kelsey to get the No. 2 seed in the ACC Tournament last week. Young is expected to have a bigger package as well this season, but it won’t likely be the same as what Kelsey will have to spend.
Virginia reportedly hiring Ryan Odom as next men's basketball coach
After Virginia was eliminated in the second round of the ACC Tournament by Georgia Tech last week, the school announced that they were parting ways with interim coach Ron Sanchez. On Friday, John Fanta of FoxSports reported that VCU coach Ryan Odom has agreed to become the Cavaliers' next head coach.
