Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young still has some open spots on his roster for the 2025-26 season. Currently, in the Class of 2025, the Hokies have commitments from four-star forward Sin'Cere Jones and four-star center Christian Gurdak.

One priority recruit in that class narrowed his list of schools down to four and Virginia Tech made the cut and Kayden Mingo will make his decision on Nov. 1.

Virginia Tech makes Final Four for Kayden Mingo

Sunday, Mingo, a four-star combo guard and 43rd-ranked player in the Class of 2025, narrowed his list of schools down to four, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Georgia, and Penn State. The New York native who plays at Long Island Lutheran High School has visited all of his final choices and is looking for the right fit. He seems to like the system Young and the Hokies run.

"I love Coach Young's system. The ACC is one of the best leagues and Virginia Tech has been winning a lot over the years,'' said Mongo to 247Sports. "I really feel like Coach Young does a good job with his guards having them play on and off the ball. They have great spacing and their play really helps their guards play free and make plays for their teammates."

He is what the Hokies need in next season's class. At 6-foot-2, he is athletic and a very good defender, while being able to create his own shot on the offensive end. With Jones and Gurdak already in that class, Mingo would fit in nicely.

We are over two weeks away from his decision, but losing out to Wake Forest if that ends up happening would not be good just for ACC purposes. We'll find out in just a couple of weeks about his final decision.
