So far this spring, Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young has had some big additions to his roster in what is turning into another season of roster turnover for the Hokies. Gone are some key players in Brandon Rechsteiner and Patrick Wessler, who had a good season despite some limited playing time at different points in the season.

Virginia Tech is still waiting on the final decision from Tobi Lawal, who entered the NBA Draft process, but left the option open to return to the Hokies and it would be surprising if he didn't for his final season of college basketball. Young has added some key pieces to go along with the retention he got from some other players, but it appears that his work is still not done in the portal.

Virginia Tech men's basketball linked to Kansas State transfer C.J. Jones

Virginia Tech had added a pair of guards through the portal in UNLV's Jailen Bedford and Delaware's Izaiah Pasha, along with West Virginia forward Amani Hansberry. That goes along with returning starters Ben Hammond, Jaden Schutt, and Tyler Johnson, and it appears that the Hokies are in the mix for a Big 12 guard.

C.J. Jones of Kansas State was reportedly having a Zoom meeting with USC after meeting with Young and Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-5 Jones averaged 5.7 points a game last season for the Wildcats, along with 1.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds, while shooting 41% from the field in 33 games. He averaged 19 minutes a night for Kansas State.

During and after the ACC Tournament back in March, Young vowed that the Hokies were going to get better and not have a repeat season that they had this past season that saw them finish 13-19 after a first-round exit in the ACC Tournament at the hands of California. It was reported that he was going to have a bigger NIL package and it appears that it might very well be the case.
