On Saturday, Virginia Tech men's basketball coach Mike Young picked up his first transfer portal commitment when West Virginia's Amani Hansberry committed to the Hokies. On Sunday, Young suffered a tough portal loss when North Dakota State transfer Jacari White picked Virginia over Tech and other schools as the Cavaliers came from out of nowhere.
Young and his staff will have to quickly pivot and they have been linked to another guard in the portal. According to Joe Tipton of On3, the Hokies are one of several schools being linked to Washington transfer Mekhi Mason.
Washington transfer guard Mekhi Mason is receiving interest from the following programs, per his agent Teddy Archer:

Virginia Tech baseball wins third straight ACC series
For the third straight weekend, the Hokies baseball team won an ACC series, this time coming from behind after dropping Game 1 on Friday afternoon. After winning Game 2, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon, Virginia Tech rolled to an 11-5 win in Game 3 on Sunday to improve to 9-6 in the ACC and 22-10 overall.
The Hokies jumped out to a 10-0 lead halfway through the game on Sunday, and two bases-loaded doubles by Jared Davis and Ben Watson set the tone in the second and fourth innings. Both hits came with two outs. Tech returns home to host Troy in a non-conference game on Wednesday night before Florida State visits next weekend for a huge three-game series.
Two new ACC women's basketball coaches
It seems like the coaching carousel never ends in college basketball. For the men, as we have seen, things happened quickly the last month with coaches bolting for new homes right after their season's came to an end.
The last couple of days, on the women's side, there have been two new head coaches named for the ACC. SMU named former Arizona coach Adia Barnes their new head coach after a successful run with the Wildcats. On Sunday, Georgia Tech named Karen Blair, a former assistant at Maryland, their new coach replacing Nell Fortner who retired last week.
