The first round of the NBA Draft is in the books on Tuesday night, and Virginia Tech forward Tobi Lawal did not hear his name called. It wasn't surprising that he went undrafted on Day 1, but that could change on Wednesday night on Day 2 in Brooklyn, New York.
Most mock drafts have Lawal going late in the second round, anywhere from No. 46 through 60. There have been several teams that he's been linked to in various mock drafts, but expect a team to take a chance on him as he brings a different element to the defensive end of the floor and rebounding, while his offensive game could use some work.
Virginia Tech softball adds Transfer Portal commitment
Compared to the Hokies baseball team, it has been a quiet Transfer Portal for the Virginia Tech softball team. Head coach Pete D'Amour did a nice job of retaining a lot of his key players who are eligible to return in 2027. On Tuesday, the Hokies and D'Amour added a transfer from Arizona.
Emma Kavanagh committed to Virginia Tech, according to Justin McLeod of D1 Softball, after hitting .288 this past season for the Wildcats in the Big 12 with six home runs and 21 runs driven in. She had 21 hits in 2026.
