When Jaydon Young entered the transfer portal it didn't take him long to find a new home, committing to High Point. However, there was a coaching change there, which allowed him to enter the portal again and out of nowhere, he's heading back to the ACC.
On Friday, it was reported that Young is heading back to the ACC, and he will join a powerhouse program at North Carolina. He won't start for the Tar Heels, but he'll be a big piece of their rotation off the bench like he turned into under Mike Young this past season. He can explode and light up the scoresheet on any night.
NFL Draft Day 3
The first three rounds of the NFL Draft are in the books and still no Hokies have been picked. Rounds 4-7 will take place on Saturday and expect a handful of former Virginia Tech players to be picked with Dorian Strong and Bhayshul Tuten headlining the names that could be picked first.
Softball rebounds with rout of Cal
It's been a long seven days for the Hokies softball team after dropping two of their three games last weekend at Pittsburgh. Looking to rebound, they had to travel across the country to play their first ACC series at California, and rebound, Virginia Tech did.
The Hokies blasted three home runs, a solo shot from Cori McMillan, a two-run shot by Michelle Chatfield and a grand slam from Chatfield, which gave Tech an 11-1 lead in the fifth inning. Bre Peck had an RBI single, McMillan drew a bases loaded walk and Zoe Yaeger had a two-run single for Virginia Tech.
Sophie Kleiman picked up the win in the circle for the Hokies, who improved to 38-7 overall and 16-3 in the ACC. Cal fell to 31-17 overall and 7-12 in conference play.
Baseball falls at Duke
After dropping five out of their last six ACC games, the Hokies baseball team hit the road to Durham for a three-game series with Duke, and it was a pitchers' duel for most of the game. In the end, the Blue Devils pushed across three runs in the bottom of the 11th for a 6-3 win on an AJ Garcia three-run homer.
Virginia Tech got an RBI from Jared Davis and a two-run home run in the seventh inning from David Lewis to tie the game 3-3, before the pitching shut down both sides until the bottom of the 11th. The Hokies fell to 26-16 overall and 10-12 in the ACC.
