Baseball drops series final at Cal

The Hokies baseball team was looking for a sweep of the California Golden Bears on Sunday afternoon in Berkeley, Calif., after winning the first game, 9-1 on Friday night and 6-2 on Saturday afternoon in Game 2. Sunday, the Golden Bears avoided the sweep with a 9-4 victory.

Virginia Tech heads back to Blacksburg with a 25-21 overall record and 13-14 in the ACC. They visit Liberty on Wednesday night, looking for revenge for an 11-4 loss last month in Blacksburg, then will host UNC-Greensboro for a pair of games next weekend. They will close out ACC play in two weeks at home against Clemson. The Hokies are going to need a strong finish to get an NCAA Tournament bid at the end of the month.
