NFL training camps are open, and some former Virginia Tech players are sticking out early on. Wide receiver Jaylin Lane is making waves with the Washington Commanders, as is defensive back Dorian Strong with the Buffalo Bills. Another former Hokies' player is expected to make some noise in another training camp, but he has been set back with an injury.
Running back Bhayshul Tuten is expected to push for time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but the former Hokies back is sidelined with a hamstring injury. He isn't expected to miss an extended amount of time for Jacksonville, and this early on in camp, it doesn't make sense to push him too hard.
Lane Stadium ranked in Top 10 for noise
As a visitor, coming to play inside Lane Stadium against Virginia Tech is not easy. Let's just say that it's not a game circled on many calendars os teams making the trip to Blacksburg each season. On3 ranked the Top 10 Loudest College Football Stadiums, and Virginia Tech cracked the Top 10.
Lane Stadium came in at No. 7 as it was ranked by decibels. Ahead of Virginia Tech from the top is Neyland Stadium at Tennessee, Husky Stadium at Washington, Williams-Brice Stadium at South Carolina, Memorial Stadium at Clemson, Tiger Stadium at LSU, and Autzen Stadium at Oregon. Coming in behind the Hokies were Kyle Field at Texas A&M, Beaver Stadium at Penn State, and Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida.
Virginia Tech transfer sends loud message
There has been a lot of roster turnover for Virginia Tech heading into the 2025 football season, and one player who came in through the Transfer Portal is safety Isaiah Cash, who comes in from Sam Houston State as a graduate transfer. Pro Football Focus dropped the Top 6 highest graded returning safeties, and Cash was missing, despite grading out higher than one player on the list.

Cash took to X and responded to the social media post on X from PFF that he had a 77.4, which was higher than the final name on the list, Miami's Zechariah Poyer, who graded out at 76.9. Last season at Sam Houston State, Cash had 67 tackles, 51 solo, and two interceptions. He only whiffed on 3.6% of his tackles, which helped his grade. Clearly, an oversight that can be some motivation for him to go into camp with the Hokies.
Umm I had 77.4
