After coming up short in a massive upset of Duke on Saturday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum, 72-58, the Virginia Tech men's basketball team will have a much-needed bye this week. Sitting squarely on the NCAA Tournament bubble, the Hokies need a reset.

They are expected to get forward Tyler Johnson back on Saturday afternoon when the Hokies travel to Raleigh to play North Carolina State. This is another Quad 1 opportunity for Virginia Tech against a Wolfpack team that is playing its best basketball of the season currently. On Monday, the ACC announced some time changes and TV changes for Saturday's slate.

The ACC announced that the start time for the Hokies and Wolfpack, which was originally scheduled to tip off at 1:30 p.m., has been moved up 90 minutes to a noon tip-off. The game will still be broadcast on the CW Network.

Pete D'Amour wants James Franklin to cook

It's hard to believe, but the Hokies softball season begins on Thursday night when Virginia Tech visits South Carolina. Head coach Pete D'Amour sat down with Tech Sideline and spoke about James Franklin and the upcoming tenure for the former Penn State coach when it comes to revenue sharing for the athletics program.

"From our perspective, man, let (James) Franklin cook,'' said D'Amour. "Let him do his thing. Go win a bunch of football games, go to the playoff and we all get better.''

We agree with you coach.

James Franklin adds Class of 2026 commit

Speaking of Franklin, he picked up a commitment from a Class of 2026 in-state recruit. Punter Luke Jones, from Virginia Beach, committed to the Hokies. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Jones picked Tech over Old Dominion, Kentucky, and Michigan State.

Franklin brought in a dynamic Class of 2026 when he was hired at Virginia Tech in November, which included a handful of former Penn State recruits.
