After a ton of planning and hype, it's finally time for Metallica's concert at Lane Stadium on Wednesday night. Preperation has been in the works for weeks in getting the stadium switched over following the Hokies Spring Game last month.
It has been incredible to watch the transformation from a football field to a concert stage and Tuesday, members of the media got to tour the set up one day before Enter Sandman and other songs are sung inside the full stadium.
Baseball looks to rebound at Liberty
The Hokies’ baseball team will look to rebound Wednesday night when they play Liberty for the second time in a week. After being swept at Pittsburgh by a struggling Panthers team, Virginia Tech will play its final road game of the regular season against the Flames beginning at 6 p.m. After this game, Tech will host Mercer over the weekend for two games, then host Marshall mid-week next week, before hosting Virginia the following weekend, before the ACC Tournament later this month.
Boston College softball coach retires
This week’s ACC softball tournament will be in Chestnut Hill beginning on Wednesday, and the host Eagles will not be part of the field. Last year at this time, BC advanced to the quarterfinals of the tourney before falling. After a disappointing season in 2025, head coach Amy Kvilhaug announced that she was retiring, which is a surprising move. The school announced that they will begin a search for a new coach in a market that is tough to recruit in and a conference that boasts a number of the top teams in the country. The Hokies did not play the Eagles this season.

Nebraska athletic director Troy Dannen and former Pittsburgh, Arkansas, and Kansas Jeff Long, who will serve a one-year term, were named to the committee for the upcoming season.
