Virginia Tech football got a visit from Class of 2026 safety Eltonino Hicks from Upper Marlboro, Maryland and it’s safe to say that the Hokies are in the thick of his recruiting. After his visit, he had some high praise for head coach Brent Pry.

“I like everything about the program and coach Pry leading it,’’ Hicks said to 247Sports.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Hicks will be back in Blacksburg for an official visit the first weekend in June. He is drawing interest from a number of schools, but it’s clear that he likes Pry and the direction the Hokies are going. We’ll see.

Will Wade sends a message to the ACC

North Carolina State officially hired Will Wade this week with a press conference after his McNesse State team was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament over the weekend by Purdue. His team opened the tournament last Thursday with a 69-67 win over Clemson in Providence. When introduced in Raleigh, he put the rest of the conference on notice for 2025-26.

“I want to be very clear, this is not a rebuild,’’ Wade said. “We’re going to be in the top part of the ACC next year, and we’re going to the NCAA Tournament.’’

The Wolfpack are one year removed from a magical run through the ACC Tournament last March and a trip to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. In this day and age of college sports and the NIL, anything is possible for a quick turnaround. Wade certainly thinks so.
