Virginia Tech Hokies News: Bhayshul Tuten Injury, Women's Soccer Stuns Notre Dame
By Scott Roche
It was a busy weekend at Virginia Tech with the biggest news coming on the football field on Saturday in the Hokies 21-6 victory over Georgia Tech with the win not being the biggest news. That was an injury to Bhayshul Tuten which is where we will begin this edition of Virginia Tech Hokies News.
Bhayshul Tuten reportedly in walking boot
Late in the fourth quarter of Virginia Tech's win over the Yellow Jackets on Homecoming, Bhayshul Tuten took a handoff from quarterback Kyron Drones, but was tackled and was down with what appeared to be an ankle injury.
Following the game, head coach Brent Pry didn't have an update, but late Saturday night, Kolby Crawford of 247Sports reported that Tuten was in a walking boot. We should get an update at some point early in the week ahead of a trip to Syracuse on Saturday afternoon.
Virginia Tech opens as favorite at Syracuse
Speaking of a trip to New York to play the Orange in what is going to be a very difficult game whether or not Tuten can play, Virginia Tech opened on Sunday as a favorite. At the time this article is being written, the Hokies are a 3.5-point favorite according to DraftKings. Expect the line to move as the week goes on just as Tuten's injury reports come out.
Women's soccer stuns Notre Dame
Earlier this season, the Hokies women's soccer team stunned Florida State at home for their first Top 10 win. Sunday, they added their second and knocked seventh-ranked Notre Dame off, 2-0, in South Bend on a pair of second-half goals.
Sarah Rosenbaum opened the scoring early in the second half, then assisted with Anna Weir on Lauren Gogal's goal late in the game to seal the victory. At 10-3-3, the win also punched the Hokies ticket to the ACC Tournament.
