The NFL Draft is in the books, and it was another quiet weekend for the Virginia Tech football program. The highlight was former cornerback Mansoor Delane getting picked sixth overall in the first round by the Kansas City Chiefs.
After the draft concluded early Saturday evening, some former Hokeis got undrafted free agent deals and invites to some rookie camps. It might be tough for some former players to hook up with an NFL team, but never say never. Here is an updated tracker where former Hokeis players are going to look to catch on with.
Tracking Virginia Tech’s undrafted free agents
Kyron Drones: Green Bay Packers
It wasn't surprising that quarterback Kyron Drones wasn't drafted, but there are still questions as to where he'll make an impact at the next level. A position change could be in the works, but the Green Bay Packers have a history of taking chances on QBs with the skill set Drones has. We'll see how this plays out in mini-camp and what the Packers think of him.
Terion Stewart: Kansas City Chiefs
It would not have been surprising if a team took a chance on running back Terion Stewart, but after going undrafted, he agreed to a deal with the Chiefs. He struggled staying healthy in his one season in Blacksburg, but when he was healthy, he was effective. He was on the NFL scouts' radar before coming to Virginia Tech, and now he'll get a chance to see what he can do with Kansas City.
Tomas Rimac: Minnesota Vikings
Like Stewart, Tomas Rimas played just one season for the Hokies, but he was a key piece of an offensive line that struggled with injuries in 2025. He came to Blacksburg to follow offensive line coach Matt Moore to the Hokies. He has produced a handful of NFL linemen, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Rimac find a way onto the 53-man roster.
Kelvin Gilliam, Jr.: Dallas Cowboys
Defensive lineman Kelvin Gilliams, Jr. got an undrafted free agent contract with America's team, the Dallas Cowboys. Like Rimac, it was a little surprising to see him go undrafted, as a team could have taken a chance on him in the seventh round. It will be interesting to see how this goes for Gilliam in Big D.
Kody Huisman: Buffalo Bills
Another former defensive lineman, Huisman, signed with the Buffalo Bills and will attempt to make an impression on an organization looking to retake the AFC East from the New England Patriots. The North Dakota State transfer had 38 tackles last season for the Hokies.
Jaden Keller: Las Vegas Raiders
Linebacker Jaden Keller will be a rookie mini-camp invitee with the Las Vegas Raiders. He was a staple at the linebacker spot for Virginia Tech and now will get a chance to make an impression in Las Vegas.
Ben Bell: Indianapolis Colts
A Texas State transfer, Ben Bell, is a rookie mini-camp invitee with the Colts. He was effective and had 40 tackles in 12 games for Virginia Tech.
Nick Veltsistas: Washington Commanders
Hokies punter Nick Veltsistas got a rookie mini-camp invite with the Commanders, where former Virginia Tech standout wide receiver Jaylin Lane had a good rookie season.
