With the Class of 2025 locked in for the fall, recruiting in the Class of 2026 is going to pick up, and now some of the top recruits are locking in visits with different schools. Over the past week, Virginia Tech has had a lot of players lock in visits in the spring and the latest was a three-star rising edge from North Carolina.
Keysaun Eleazer, who plays at Southeast Raleigh High School in North Carolina, is according to the 247Sports composite rankings, the 20th-ranked player in North Carolina, the 32nd-ranked player at his position in the country, and the 415th-ranked player overall.
Virginia Tech is the only school that Eleazer has locked in a visit with as he is also scheduled to visit Georgia Tech (May 30), Penn State (June 5), and Ohio State (June 20).
In-state linebacker recruit locks in June visit date in Blacksburg
If there is one area that Virginia Tech has excelled in with recruiting since Brent Pry took over as head coach, it's recruiting within the state of Virginia. The Class of 2025 is big proof of that and now, a big target in the class has locked in an official visit date with the Hokies.
Four-star linebacker Mathieu Kanu from Nokesville will visit Blacksburg on June 20-22 in what is shaping up to be a key recruiting weekend for Pry and his staff. He already has a visit to Penn State locked in on June 13, while other top programs, South Carolina, North Carolina, Michigan, and Wisconsin are a few other schools after him.
Edge and linebacker are two key positions for the Hokies to be addressing in recruiting and it's not surprising to see them making both players a priority. So far in the Class of 2026, Virginia Tech has one commitment with wide receiver Carnell Warren who committed last month at the Under Armour All-American Bowl.
