Coming off a 34-24 victory at home over Georgia Tech last Saturday, the Virginia Tech football team will hit the road for the first of two road games sandwiched around their bye week on Oct. 31 in Death Valley in South Carolina against Clemson.

The Hokies will be looking to become bowl-eligible with a win after winning five of their first seven games, while the Tigers come in at 4-2 in a battle in primetime on ESPN between a pair of two-loss ACC teams in late October.

One talking point going into the game, and really a talking point each week, is injuries and how they are going to affect depth charts for both teams. On Wednesday, the initial injury report for the game was released, and Virginia Tech cornerback Cam Chadwick was listed as questionable. On Thursday, another name was dropped, and the UConn transfer was off the list, which is a good sign. However, a couple of names still popped up for the Hokies who sound like they'll be game-time decisions at best.

Offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham and cornerback Thomas Williams were both listed as questionable. As far as Clemson goes, defensive tackle Vic Burley is listed as questionable.

Freshman Benjamin Eziuka played nearly 50 snaps against the Yellow Jackets last weekend and will be ready to go this weekend if Cunningham can't go again. It'll be a tough environment for Eziuka to play at Clemson, but Franklin doesn't appear to be nervous about putting him in.

"He's dense; he's powerful in the weight room, and he's super trustworthy," Franklin said at his Wednesday media availability. "Obviously, everybody uses that quote: 'Do your job.' He's that guy. You know what you're going to get from him every single day."

Virginia Tech announces Commonwealth Clash sellout

When Franklin was hired by Virginia Tech, you knew that attendance at games was not going to be an issue with the Hokies' fans. Heck, they came out in droves last season, with a dismal season that saw Brent Pry fired after a Week 3 loss at home to Old Dominion. There are still two more home games remaining on the slate for Franklin and his team this season, and it was announced that those two final games will be played in front of a full house.

The game on Nov. 14 against Stanford was already sold out, but now Virginia Tech has officially sold out the Commonwealth Clash against Virginia on Nov. 28. To think, Virginia Tech didn't even need to have two-for-one promos to get it sold out in late November. This is expected to be one of the better Commonwealth Clashes in some time.

ACC weekend schedule

This weekend's ACC slate begins on Friday night with an ACC Championship Game rematch when Duke visits Virginia. Later that night, North Carolina State visits Stanford. On Saturday, Pitt will start Holden Geriner at QB at No. 1 Miami while Syracuse is at North Carolina, Cal heads to No. 23 SMU, and Boston College visits Georgia Tech.
