What a last month this is turning into for former Virginia Tech football legend Michael Vick. Last month, he was hired as the head coach at Norfolk State for his first-ever coaching position. Now, he is headed to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Wednesday, it was announced that Vick is going to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, something that was long overdue for the former Hokies signal-caller who played just two seasons in Blacksburg.

In his freshman season of 1999, Vick finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting behind Wisconsin's Ron Dayne and Georgia Tech's Joe Hamilton. That season for the Hokies, Vick threw for 1,840 yards, 12 touchdowns, and only five interceptions. He also rushed for 585 yards and eight touchdowns.

In 2000, he threw for 1,234 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions, while rushing for 617 yards and eight touchdowns and he finished sixth in Heisman voting. His numbers combined in just two seasons in Blacksburg were 3,074 yards passing and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 1,202 and 16 touchdowns.

Vick headlines an impressive class with some star-studded names both as players and coaches. Also joining Vick this season are coaches Nick Saban (Toledo, Michigan State, and Alabama), Urban Meyer (Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State), Larry Korver (Northwestern College in Iowa), and Larry Blakeney (Wyoming).

Other players inducted include running back Dennis Thurman (Southern Cal), defensive lineman Michael Strahan (Texas Southern), linebacker Darrin Smith (Miami), running back Steve Slaton (West Virginia), defensive tackle Haloti Ngata (Oregon), offensive lineman Terrance Metcalk (Ole Miss), offensive lineman Alex Mack (California), tight end Jim Kleinsasser (North Dakota), defensive back Michael Huff (Texas), defensive tackle John Henderson (Tennessee), quarterback Graham Harrell (Texas Tech), quarterback Terry Hanratty (Notre Dame), center Greg Eslinger (Minnesota), wide receiver Blake Elliott (Saint John's, MN), linebacker Gregg Carr (Auburn) and running back Montee Ball (Wisconsin).
