This transfer portal cycle has seen some key players leave Blacksburg for Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry. He has added some players through the portal to fix some holes in his roster for 2025 and there is another portal commit that the Hokies are in on.
UTSA edge Jimmori Robinson from Alexandria, Va. is a player who Virginia Tech must make a priority. The Hokies are losing Antwaun Powell-Ryland to the NFL which creates a huge hole along the defensive line. Along with Powell-Ryland, Aeneas Peebles is also leaving with no more eligibility left for the NFL and there are some other key players not returning. That’s where Robinson comes in.
Virginia Tech football must land UTSA transfer Jimmori Robinson in the transfer portal
Help is needed Robinson is someone who fits the mold for Blacksburg and can come in and make an impact right away. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound in-state recruit had 43 tackles this season for the Road Runners with 10.5 sacks, which was good enough to earn AAC Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Robinson is down to West Virginia and Virginia Tech and this is a must-win for the Hokies to land a future NFL player for next season. He fills what is a major void for Virginia Tech going into next season in what is his final year of eligibility.
Earlier this month, Adam Friedman of Rivals listed him as the top linebacker in the transfer portal, which gives either West Virginia or Virginia Tech options. Pry has done a good job this portal cycle bringing home in-state talent from other schools and Robinson, from Northern Virginia would certainly fit the mold.
Robinson has visited a handful of Power 4 schools and the Hokies hope that still not having a defensive coordinator factors into his decision. This is a must-win for Virginia Tech.
