Coming off two straight losses, the Virginia Tech football team will look to snap it on Saturday afternoon when Georgia Tech visits for a 3:30 kickoff on the ACC Network. The Hokies suffered a 35-33 loss at home two weeks ago to Pittsburgh on a missed John Love field goal attempt as time expired.
Last week, Virginia Tech flew out to Northern California and suffered a 25-20 loss to an undermanned California team that was missing some key players due to injuries. They also had some mistakes on both sides of the ball, as well as two more missed field goals from Love. When it rains, it pours.
James Franklin is facing his first adversity in Blacksburg since being hired last November, and it'll be interesting to see how the Hokies come out against a Yellow Jackets team that might be as banged up as Cal was last week. Yes, I know, here we go again. You just can't make this stuff up. Virginia Tech faces a daunting schedule after this game, with road games at Clemson and SMU, which means that with another road game coming in late November at Miami, it might come down to hosting Virginia Thanksgiving Weekend for the Hokies to become bowl-eligible if they lose to Georgia.
With that said, here are the final odds and a preview of Saturday's game.

Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech prediction
After starting the season 4-0, it has been a rough go of things the last couple of weeks for Virginia Tech on both sides of the ball and with special teams. It wasn't really surprising to see them come out as flat as they did at Cal last week, given what happened eight days earlier, but things never got better as the game went along.
From play-calling on the offensive side to the secondary getting torched and committing multiple penalties that helped the Golden Bears marched downfield to score the game-winning touchdown. The Hokies were able to move within one last play with a throw to the end zone to win the game, but an Ethan Grunkemeyer pass to Luke Reynolds fell incomplete. It was a long return flight back to Blacksburg from Berkeley, to say the least.
Georgia Tech is 2-3 and banged up coming into the game. There is no other way to put it: This is a must-win for the Hokies. Spread aside; just win the game. The Yellow Jackets could be without a couple of running backs and their leading linebacker, medically retired earlier in the week after an upset of Duke last weekend in Atlanta. There are paths to winning the game for Virginia Tech, and there are just as many paths to losing the game as well.
