We are just over six weeks away from the 2025 college football season beginning. In the current state of college football, there are a lot of debates as to who has the best entrances in the sport and when arguments are usually made, you can find Lane Stadium in the discussion.
Metallica's Enter Sandman is without a doubt one of, if not the best, songs and entrances in college football. Not being a homer or anything, but there isn't a better tradition in college football than the Hokies taking the field at Lane Stadium to Enter Sandman. Nicholas Rome of the Saturday Blitz agrees.
"There may not be a better entrance in College Football than the Virginia Tech football team running out to Enter Sandman while Lane Stadium goes berserk. It doesn't matter that the program has struggled as of late or that the team may be preparing to face off against a team that has them outmatched, when Metallica comes over the PA system, there isn't a better moment in College Sports."
Rome is right, when Enter Sandman comes over the PA system at Lane Stadium, there isn't a better moment in College Sports. Other entrances on his list we agree with, including Jump Around for the Wisconsin Badgers, Take Me Home, Country Roads for the West Virginia Mountaineers, and Penn State's Kernkraft 400.
Metallica's concert back in the spring was years in the making in Blacksburg and really hit like something else. This season, Virginia Tech's schedule has seven of their 12 games inside of Lane Stadium and that means fans are treated to seven more Enter Sandman entrances in one season. There is nothing better than a crisp fall afternoon or evening in Blacksburg, where fans get to witness the greatest entrance in College Sports in person or on TV.
