This past weekend was a busy one in Blacksburg. The Virginia Tech baseball and softball teams hosted their home ACC opening series, and they combined to win five of the six games. New football coach James Franklin hosted a bunch of recruits, a number of them being four stars.

While that was going on, Megan Duffy and the women's basketball team were opening the NCAA Tournament down in Austin, Texas. The Hokies drew the No. 9 seed in the Fort Worth Regional 3 and were matched up with No. 8 Oregon. The Ducks proved to be too tough at both ends of the floor and bounced Virginia Tech in the opening round, 70-60.

It was a disappointing end to a great second season for Duffy and her team. After being the first team left out of the 68-team field last year, the Hokies were safely in this season. Now that the dust has settled on the 2025-26 season, Duffy and her staff will look ahead to the future. That includes hosting a four-star recruit next weekend.

Virginia Tech women's basketball to host 4-star Class of 2027 recruit

Turning the page to a new season is never easy. However, Duffy and her staff will host Class of 2027 four-star forward Lillie Graves for an unofficial visit on Friday, according to Dushawn London of 247Sports.

Graves is a 6-foot-1 forward from Lafayette, Indiana, and is the No. 2 player in her class in Indiana and the 47th-ranked player according to 247Sports in her class. She holds several offers, and some from other ACC programs.

If Duffy can get retention this spring, the Hokies are set up very well for the 2026-27 season. After that, they could end up losing some key players, which would emphasize the Class of 2027 in recruiting. Duffy is getting ahead of it, and we'll see if there is an official visit on the horizon for Graves after next weekend.
