On Monday, it was announced that the ACC was losing another men's basketball coach following the 2024-25 season. Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton is leaving his post after this season and he'll be joining Tony Bennett who stepped aside from Virginia right before the season started.

This season started rough for Virginia Tech and head coach Mike Young, but it has got much better since the New Year, and right now, after wins over FSU and Virginia last week, the Hokies are 5-6 in the ACC and currently in the Top 10 of the standings. Not sure who thought that it was possible just a month ago.

With the struggles this season Tech has had, it wouldn't be surprising to see Young become the next ACC coach to step aside. Joining ACC PM, the veteran coach hinted at his future on the sideline.

Mike Young hints at his future at Virginia Tech beyond this season

If there is one takeaway from this season to date, it's that Young can flat-out coach still. He is not the reason for their struggles. He has built a young roster through the transfer portal and even brought in three freshmen this season. He has a four-star recruit coming in next season in Christian Gurdak who will likely contribute right away. However, in the back of a lot of people's minds is, "What does the future hold for Mike Young at Virginia Tech after this season?" He answered that on ACC PM.

"We've got more to accomplish at Virginia Tech,'' said Young. "This team and beyond this year. I'm having great fun. You know how much I love this school. Southwest Virginia, this is my home. That's where my focus will continue to be."

If you're a Virginia Tech fan, that's great to hear. Some may disagree, but Young is building a young core in Blacksburg, but as is the case in college sports right now, it's all about getting retainment and NIL support. Easier said than done. There is a lot to like about the roster going forward and Young returning, for now, is good news for 2025-26.
