After opening the season with a Week 0 win over New Mexico State, the Florida State football team was scheduled to host SMU on Monday night at Doak Campbell Stadium, in what is the Mustangs' season-opener.
This is a big game for Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell, who is squarely on the hot seat going into the season. This is a big game that FSU needs to win to keep the pressure off their head coach, as after a bye next weekend, they head to Alabama on Sept. 19 in a major non-conference game.
However, the game was supposed to kick off at 7:30 in Tallahassee, but it was delayed due to a power outage and the lights going out. As you can imagine. social media had a field day with FSU's power going out.

Things haven't gone well for Florida State and Norvell the last couple of years, and really, this type of delay in a stand-alone game is going to bring out more trolls. There was some thought that Norvell wasn't going to make it through the 2025 season, but because of a monster buyout, the school decided to run it back with him, likely because of that buyout.
Florida State's schedule after Alabama is going to be a daunting task with their remaining ACC schedule. They have Virginia, Clemson, and North Carolina State at home, while playing road games at Pittsburgh, Miami, Louisville, and Boston College. They will also host Florida to close out the regular season. This is not a great look for Florida State after they paid to have the stadium renovated and this happens. It's a tough look in a standalone game the whole country was sitting down to watch.
