After opening in Atlanta against South Carolina, the Hokies return home for a three-game homestand, a term rarely used in college football, and the final of the three games with be Wofford, which is also the final non-conference matchup for Virginia Tech before their ACC slate begins.

The Terriers went 5-7 last season, and the FCS school dropped a 56-12 decision at South Carolina in November. There is no other way to put it, this has to be a win, and any other result could end up in some massive changes.

This is the series that, if the Hokies can get out of at any time, they should. Virginia Tech has a lot more to lose than to win against the Monarchs. They have won two of the first three matchups under Pry, including last season on the road. The Monarchs open the season with Indiana, a playoff team last season, before playing North Carolina Central at home, then coming to Blacksburg. Like Wofford, this must be a win for the Hokies this season.

The Demon Deacons are going through a coaching change with Washington State's Jake Dickert replacing Dave Clawson in Winston-Salem. This will be the first ACC home game for the Hokies in 2025 and the second time in three years they host Wake Forest after rolling to a 30-13 win in 2023.

Last season Wake went 2-6 in the ACC and after undergoing a coaching change, they will get better under Dickert, but it won't be instant success. They will go through some growing pains and if Tech wants to become bowl-eligible, this should be a victory.
