When Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry fired three assistant coaches following the 2024 regular season, the first replacement he hired was an offensive line coach to replace Ron Crook. Pry tabbed West Virginia offensive line coach Matt Moore as his replacement to fix a struggling unit the last couple of years.

This is certainly an upgrade and Moore's presence in Blacksburg was felt right away. Three of his former players at West Virginia have transferred to Virginia Tech to play for their former coach. Moore had a lot of success with the o-line in Morgantown and one of his former players coming to Virginia Tech was tabbed as one of the top interior returning offensive linemen for the 2025 season.

West Virginia transfer Tomas Rimac named top 10 returning interior OL by PFF

One of the players to follow Moore to Blacksburg from West Virginia is Tomas Rimac. He graded out so well at Pro Football Focus that they named him one of the top 10 returning interior offensive linemen for the 2025 season.

"The top transfer on this list, Rimac joins the Hokies after a productive redshirt junior campaign at West Virginia. His 78.6 PFF overall grade in 2024 ranked fifth among Power Four guards, and he was one of only six in that group who earned 75.0-plus grades as a pass blocker and a run blocker."

This is exactly what the Hokies need for an addition to redo the offensive line in front of quarterbacks Kyron Drones and Pop Watson. Between the transfer portal and exhausting eligibility, the line is in need of new faces to step in quickly and fill holes. Rimac is the highest graded of the transfers that have come to Blacksburg from West Virginia. Guard was a weak spot for the Hokies and Rimac strengthens that himself.
