Why a former Virginia Tech linebacker is "very bullish" on the Hokies under Brent Pry
By Scott Roche
When Brent Pry took over for Justin Fuente two years ago, one player who played hs final season for the Hokies under Pry was linebacker Dax Hollified. The North Carolina native was key cog in Virginia Tech's defense for five seasons.
He only played one season for Pry and never played for legendary coach Frank Beamer, but he has been through the ups and downs in Blacksburg and was there when things hit rock bottom. Now, one year away from the program, he is excited for what the future holds for the Hokies under their third-year coach.
Dax Hollifield bullish on Virginia Tech under Brent Pry
Hollified joined the Two Deep Podcast recently and discussed the Hokies and Pry and it's safe to say that he is excited about where the program is headed under the former Penn State defensive coordinator.
"I am very bullish on the Virginia Tech Hokies right now. I never played for Coach Beamer, I've heard a lot about how he ran his program and how he did things. I feel like this is about as close as you can get to how he did things the way Coach Pry approaches things. It's a very family atmosphere invest into the community. I feel like the fanbase is really involved, they know what is going with the program at all times. We go into the community and do a lot of things. He's going to rebuild those bridges in the state of Virginia in my opinion is where we post them the most. "

When Pry was hired, he knew that relationships in the Commonwealth needed to be fixed and he is well on his way to doing that, but there is work that needs to be done. Currently, 11 of the 15 commits in the Class of 2025 are from Virginia, and expect more to come down the line. A lot of people are bullish on the Hokies and Hollifield is one of them.
