Virginia Tech SHOULD host the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament

Sunday night when the brackets are announced, regardless of Kitley’s status, there is no reason why Virginia Tech should not be hosting the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament next weekend in Blacksburg for the second straight year. Charlie Creme of ESPN noted that an injury to a key player could be the determining factor if a team hosts or not, but the full body of work done by the Hokies says they should be hosting, regardless of anyone’s injury status.

Virginia Tech has Top 25 road wins at Syracuse, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Louisville. They were the regular season champion in the best women’s basketball conference in the country and checked off every box in terms of being a Top 16 seed. Creme in his latest bracketology as this article is being written has them as a No. 4 seed in the Albany 1 Region with South Carolina as the No. 1 seed. If that ends up happening, then so be it, but the Hokies deserve to be at Cassell Coliseum next weekend as a host.
