The Virginia Tech football team is a two-touchdown favorite according to DraftKings this Saturday night at Old Dominion. What could possibly go wrong? Well, a lot of things actually if history tells us anything.

History aside, this is a game that the Hokies must win and really need to win after slipping up in their first game of the season at Vanderbilt. On paper, this should be a win, but this is college football and anything is possible week to week. However, Virginia Tech needs to end its struggles in Norfolk and this weekend is a perfect time to do that.

Virginia Tech looking to avoid another loss at Old Dominion

By now you know the drill. In 2018 the Hokies went to Norfolk as the 13th-ranked team in the country and gave up a stunning 49 points to the Monarchs in a 14-point loss in what was considered one of the bigger upsets. Two years in Brent Pry’s debut as head coach of the Hokies, Old Dominion, led by current Virginia Tech wide receiver Ali Jennings, stunned Tech, 20-17 which kickstarted a 3-8 season in Blacksburg.

Once again a heavy favorite over ODU, the Hokies will be looking to have a better first half than they have had in the first two weeks where the offense put up a total of six points combined. Again, a double-digit favorite on the road with Virginia Tech’s history at Old Dominion, it’s hard to lay money on the Hokies to cover.

Going on the road for the Hokies to play against the Monarchs in a true road game offers nothing of value to them. In fact, they have everything to lose and nothing to gain from it, win or lose. Here’s hoping they avoid another horror show in Norfolk this Saturday night.
