Virginia Tech Football: 5 most valuable offensive players in 2023
By Scott Roche
Da'Quan Felton
After a 3-8 2022 season, Pry hit the transfer portal hard and he struck it big offensively. Drones and Tuten were both added, as were some wide receivers, including Da'Quan Felton from Norfolk State. In his two previous seasons at Norfolk State, he had just over 1,000 receiving yards, but in his first season in Blacksburg, he made an impact and collected more yards than he did in either 2021 or 2022 with the Spartans.
Felton finished 2023 with 38 receptions for 667 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 17.6 yards a reception. When Drones needed to make a play downfield, he often used Felton and he had two touchdown receptions against Virginia, Syracuse, and North Carolina State. One of his touchdowns was an 84-yard catch and run in the third quarter when the Hokies pulled away from the Cavaliers to officially become bowl-eligible. Against the Orange, he had a 62-yard touchdown reception midway through the second quarter for a 23-0 lead on their way to a 38-10 victory. Like so many of his other teammates, he's returning in 2024 and will be a big target for Drones on an offense that will be capable of putting up points.
