Nov. 25: Virginia Tech 55, Virginia 17

After losing at home to North Carolina State the weekend before, the Hokies entered the game at 5-6 and needed a win to become bowl-eligible. There was optimism going into the game after what they did two weeks earlier at Boston College. The Cavaliers had nothing to play for other than to end their rival's season a month earlier and they looked to back up some comments the week earlier by quarterback Anthony Collandrea. It didn’t go well.

Virginia Tech sent an early message by going for a fourth down at the Virginia 44-yard line and Drones connected with Gosnell deep down the field for a 10-0 lead and the rout was on. Big plays were the name of the game for the Hokies as Tuten had a 32-yard touchdown run and Tucker Holloway had a 33-yarder. Felton had an 84-yard touchdown catch and run in the third quarter and Tuten returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown. Virginia Tech built a 48-10 lead through three quarters and rolled to a sixth win to become bowl-eligible.
