Oct. 26: Virginia Tech 38, Syracuse 10
Coming off a much-needed bye week, the Hokies hosted the Orange on a Thursday night sitting at 3-4, and with three out of their final four games on the road, Virginia Tech needed a win badly. The Hokies jumped all over the Orange, and raced out to a 30-3 halftime lead. After an explosive first half, Virginia Tech’s second-half scoring was a safety and two John Love field goals.
Drones continued to impress throwing for 194 yards and a touchdown, which was a 62-yard connection with Da’Quan Felton, a Middle Tennessee State transfer. Tuten rushed for 118 yards and a 3-yard run in the second quarter right before halftime. Offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen pulled out a trick play and the Hokies’ first touchdown on a 16-yard pass from running back Malachi Thomas to Felton. A huge win for Pry and his team in the ACC before heading to Louisville for a November showdown with the Cardinals for a potential spot in the ACC Championship game against Florida State.
