Virginia Tech Football: 5 toughest games on the Hokies 2024 schedule
By Scott Roche
Ok, so there is a 1A and 1B toughest games on the schedule for the Hokies this season and this game against Clemson comes in at No. 2 because, well it's at home. Regardless, Dabo Swinney will have his team ready and they won't be fazed by the environemnt in Blacksburg.
Depending on how things play out leading into the game, this game could have a lot riding on it in terms of a spot in the ACC Championship Game in early December. The Tigers are looking to rebound from a subpar 2023 ACC season while the Hokies will be looking a statement win late in the season.
What a way to open ACC play for both schools. The Hokies will head South for a Friday night game at Hard Rock Stadium against a Hurricanes with a ton of expectations on them going into 2024 after stumbling big time in 2023. Mario Cristobal had a huge offseason in terms of the transfer portal, setting his team up to be a major player in the conference.
Washington State quarterback transfer Cam Ward comes in to lead the Miami offense and Oregon State running back transfer Damien Martinez are both going to make that side of the ball much better for Cristobal. Like Clemson, this game will have a lot riding on it in terms of the ACC standings as a loss will force the loser to run the rest of the table to be in the conversation at the end of November.
