Madison Monroe “Buzz” Nutter was selected 136th overall in the 1953 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.

Nutter played alongside George Preas on the Baltimore Colts as the team won the NFL Championships in 1958 and 1969.

While playing in 153 games, Nutter recovered 7 fumbles from his opponents.

Over 12 years in the NFL, Nutter played for the Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers. In 1962, toward the end of his career in the league, the former Hokie was selected to play in the Pro Bowl for the first and only time.
