Schools the ACC would happily send to the new Pac-12

How many ACC fans would be upset if the ACC let these three schools leave for the new Pac-12?

Here we go again. No, seriously, here we go again. As if you haven’t had enough realignment talk over the last year-plus, why not get more? Months after the Pac-12 as we knew it growing up broke up with teams going their separate way to a new conference, they are looking to bring it back with a new look.

Overnight, it was reported that the Pac-12 was in talks with a number of schools to come together a form a new Pac-12 with old members Oregon State and Washington State headlining the list. Others schools are Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State. If they are looking to add more teams, which they should, here are three ACC schools that the conference can send them.

Three ACC schools the conference could send to the new Pac-12

This season is the first of California, Stanford, and SMU in the ACC and to this day, other than money, this still makes no sense. I know, it’s money. However, there is very little that these offer the ACC going forward. California and Stanford create travel nightmares. SMU was just an odd addition, but as far as travel goes, it’s not bad, but I'm, not sure many people outside of the Dallas area would be upset if they left.

According to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports, if cooler heads could ever prevail between Clemson, Florida State, and the ACC when it comes to the legal battles with both schools making it known that they want out of the conference sooner rather than later, then letting California and Stanford go back to the Pac-12 is a no-brainer. Again, that makes just too much sense, but that's a long shot at this point with how things currently stand.

There is no appeal for the ACC in California and with both Cal and Stanford doing what was best for them when everyone else bolted, it was the ACC or being left out of a league like Oregon State and Washington State were. From an appeal perspective, the new Pac-12 is best suited for both California schools.

I don’t think anyone would be upset if the ACC let both of those schools from the West Coast leave, but it feels like unless Clemson, Florida State, and the ACC come together and end their legal battle, it’s going to be hard for the conference to let them go. They both should be on the West Coast with the new-look Pac-12.
