Pro Football Focus names a pair of Virginia Tech players to Week 3 All-ACC team

Saturday night in Norfolk, there were a lot of promising sights when it came to the Virginia Tech football team’s 37-17 win over Old Dominion. Offensively, the Hokies got off to a fast start that head coach Brent Pry had been looking for in recent weeks, but of course, they hit some roadblocks later in the first quarter and in the second. As they have in their previous two games this season, they played a solid final 30 minutes.
Defensively, aside from two second quarter possessions, they did a good job of limiting ODU to just 10 points with the final touchdown coming late in the game against a number of the backups. Pro Football Focus named two players, one on offense and one on defense, to the All-ACC team for Week 3.

Wide receiver Jaylin Lane and defensive edge Antwaun Powell-Ryland were both named to the All-ACC team for this past weekend for their performances against the Monarchs. Both players were more than deserving of the honor.
Lane finished with 106 yards receiving and a touchdown reception from quarterback Kyron Drones of 25 yards on their first possession when he got behind the Old Dominion secondary. He also had a big catch and run for 55 yards when a bad snap went from disaster to a huge gain when Drones picked up the ball, found Lane in the flat, and broke some tackles before ending up deep in Monarch's territory.
Powell-Ryland had a huge night getting after the ODU signal callers. He finished with four sacks, two forced fumbles, and one big recovery in the second half. He put on a show in front of Virginia Tech legend Bruce Smith and it was an effort that he even had to have admired.
