Every ACC football teams biggest trap game in 2024
By Scott Roche
13. Stanford
Stanford's first year in the ACC is going to be nuts in terms of travel, but one game at home that they can't overlook is a Sept. 7 game against Cal Poly. After opening with TCU at home, getting a split in their first two games before an early-season bye is critical with cross-country trips to Syracuse and Clemson on back-to-back weeks looming.
14. Syracuse
The Orange get their first four games at home which is a nice way to start the season, but their first road game at UNLV is going to be a big test for Ohio State transfer quarterback Kyle McCord and first-year head coach Fran Brown in what is a Friday night game.
15. Virginia
After hosting Maryland in a non-conference game and a week before hosting Boston College, the Cavaliers have a trip to Coast Carolina in a game that Coastal has nothing to lose and Virginia does in what is a big year for Elliott in Charlottesville.
16. Virginia Tech
There are a few games on the schedule that could be considered "trap games'', but one that sticks out is a dangerous one. On Nov. 2, the Hokies head to Syracuse one week before hosting Clemson on Nov. 9 in what should be an electric environment. For that to happen, Tech needs to win the week before in New York.
17. Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons are looking to bounce back from a frustrating 2023 season and a mid-October game on the road is a classic trap game. Wake will host Clemson on Oct. 12 and travel to Stanford on Oct. 26, but in between a trip to UConn is going to be a tougher game than people think. Just ask NC State.
