ACC Basketball Power Rankings: Virginia, NC State rise & Virginia Tech, Syracuse fall

There was movement in the recent ACC Men's Basketball Power Rankings this week, including Virginia and North Carolina State rising, while Virginia Tech and Syracuse fall.

You knew it had to happen at some point, but the North Carolina men's basketball team dropped their first ACC game of the season. Not sure many people had Georgia Tech being the one who knocked them off. The Tar Heels responded with a win over Duke Saturday night to cement their spot at the top of the standings.

There were some other surprising results over the last seven days which will have an effect on the latest power rankings. Without further ado, here are the latest ACC Men's Basketball Power Rankings.

Two more games, two more losses for the Irish against Virginia and Pittsburgh. They slip into the bottom spot not because of their losses, but because of what Louisville did over the weekend.

As bad as things have been for the Cardinals this season, you have to give them credit as they battled Clemson earlier in the week, then dropped 101 points on Florida State to collect their second ACC victory of the season. They are still playing hard for head coach Kenny Payne.

Give the Yellow Jackets credit as two of their three ACC wins have been over North Carolina and Duke, both at home. Despite their record, you can make the case they are making strides in Year 1 of Damon Stoudamire.
