ACC 2023 Football Power Rankings: Where did Virginia Tech finish?
By Scott Roche
Speaking of the Yellow Jackets, they got a bowl game and finished the regular season 6-6 thanks in large part to Cristobal and Miami's meltdown. Behind Haynes King, Georgia Tech finished the season strong with a 30-17 win over Central Florida in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl and it gives them momentum heading into 2024.
The biggest bowl surprise result belongs to the Eagles, who entered the Wasabi Fenway Bowl as a double-digit underdog against SMU, only to dominate the Mustangs in the second half, not allow a point in a 23-14 victory. BC, which will play at SMU next season against the Mustangs in their first ACC season, looks like they have a dual-threat QB in Thomas Castellanos and they return 15 starters next fall.
Things were going well for Mack Brown and the Tar Heels until they suffered a loss at home to Virginia in October and things slowly spiraled downward. They played a stinker in the Duke's Mayo Bowl against West Virginia and Brown called out the fanbase after the game. Not a good look for North Carolina who is in for a long offseason.
