5 bold Virginia Tech football predictions for 2024
By Scott Roche
4. Virginia Tech wins 10 games
Last week I wrote a game-by-game prediction piece for the Hokies in 2024 and I had them winning 10 games and there is no reason to sway away from that prediction. Now there are plenty of obstacles in their way with Rutgers in the non-conference and ACC games at Miami and Syracuse and home games against Clemson and Georgia Tech. Those five games will make or break Virginia Tech’s season.
If the Hokies can get out of their non-conference schedule at 4-0, then a 6-2 ACC record is very doable if they stay healthy. Ten wins is certainly within reach in 2024 for Virginia Tech.
5. Brent Pry wins ACC Coach of the Year Award
Last season Mike Norvell won ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Seminoles to an undefeated regular-season and it was the right choice. This season Virginia Tech has had a ton of retainment, but if he can lead them to a 10-win campaign, it would be a pretty big season in just Year 3.
Georgia Tech coach Brent Keys placed himself as an early-season favorite after upsetting FSU last Saturday and if Miami has the season that people think they can, Mario Cristobal, then he could be a candidate, but bringing Virginia Tech back to relevance in just three short years after the job he inherited, it would be tough not to have him as a finalist and a favorite.
