3 post-spring breakout candidates for Virginia Tech football on offense

Stephen Gosnell: WR
No question that the Hokies wide receiver room is loaded with depth thanks to retainment. Stephen Gosnell, Ali Jennings, Felton, and Jaylin Lane all announced together last winter that they were returning for the 2024 season giving Drones multiple options. One player who stepped up towards the end of the season was Gosnell who caught a touchdown pass in each of the final three games of the regular season, two of which were big ones at the time in wins over Boston College and Virginia.
Against the Eagles, right after the Hokies pulled off a successful onside kick at the end of the first quarter with a 10-0 lead, Drones connected with Gosnell for a 22-yard touchdown in a 48-22 victory. One week later in a loss to North Carolina State, he caught a touchdown pass and he saved his biggest for last in the biggest game of the season. Virginia Tech faced a fourth down at the Virginia 44-yard line and went for it and scored when Drones rolled out and found Gosnell behind his defender in the flat for a 44-yard touchdown to spark a bowl-eligible win. Gosnell had 22 catches for 347 yards and three touchdowns in 2023 and with the number of receivers coming back, that should open things up for him to make more of an impact this season.
