One position that has had a complete overhaul this offseason for the Virginia Tech football team is the offensive line. From players entering the Transfer Portal to players leaving because there was no eligibility left, the Hokies need to replace the entire offensive line.
In December, head coach Brent Pry fired former offensive line coach Ron Crook and hired West Virginia coach Matt Moore to replace him. The veteran coach is tasked with rebuilding the line on the fly, and he's doing it by having two players from Morgantown, Tomas Rimac and Kyle Altuner, follow him to Blacksburg.
Both players are going to be huge additions and make an immediate impact for the Hokies this season, and one of them, Rimac, was named to a preseason team.

Pete Nakos of On3 released his 2025 Preseason All-Transfer Portal Team, and Rimac was named to the team at offensive guard. One look at his numbers at West Virginia, and you can see why there is a lot of hype around him and why he'll be a huge addition in 2025 for Virginia Tech.

Rimac was a three-year starter for West Virginia, and he was one of a handful of offensive linemen to grade out with a run and pass-block grade of 77 or higher in 2024. He played over 900 snaps last fall for the Mountaineers, and if he remains healthy, he could arguably be the biggest addition to the line.
Not only do the stats back up how good Rimac can be, but also his leadership with some of the younger players is going to be big for the Hokies. Along with Altuner, the offensive line is going to be a huge position for Virginia Tech in blocking for quarterback Kyron Drones, who is returning from multiple injuries last season.
