Last month, the Virginia Tech men's basketball team dropped their non-conference schedule, and some matchups on it will certainly help head coach Mike Young and his team build an NCAA Tournament résumé. The Hokies learned their ACC opponents over the summer, and it was confirmed that the Hokies will play every team on the schedule at least once in 2026-27, except for Duke.
On Wednesday, the ACC officially dropped the ACC slate for each school, and the Hokies are one that begins with a bit of a road-heavy schedule, but has more home games than road games on the backend of it. Let's dive into Virginia Tech's ACC schedule with some notable games this upcoming winter.
Virginia Tech gets ACC schedule for 2026-27 schedule
The Hokies will begin the ACC slate at home against Louisville on Dec. 30, but let's be honest: with no Duke, Hokies fans are going to be looking for three games on the slate to see when and where they'll be. The first ones are obviously against Virginia. The first matchup will be in Charlottesville on Jan. 30. The second matchup will be at Cassell Coliseum less than a month later, on Feb. 20. The next matchup Virginia Tech fans are interested in seeing is when North Carolina comes to Blacksburg with former guard Neoklis Avdalas.

That game, which features first-year head coach Michael Malone, will be on Feb. 27 at Cassell Coliseum. Classes will be in session, and expect that game to be banged out, as well as the Virginia game. Those games are back-to-back on the schedule. Also on the slate is an early-season matchup with Wake Forest on the road after the Demon Deacons bounced the Hokies in overtime in the first round of the ACC Tournament back in March.
The rest of the schedule includes a trip to Northern California at Stanford and Cal in the middle of February, while not playing Duke, Virginia Tech has two games with Boston College, at home in January and in Chestnut Hill in late February. Luke Murray, Danny Hurley's assistant at UConn, is the new coach of the Eagles. The ACC schedule closes out on March 6 when the Hokies visit Georgia Tech before the ACC Tournament begins on March 9 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
