The New York Jets are the last remaining winless team in the NFL, sitting at 0-7 after a 13-6 loss at home to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday afternoon. They have been historically bad at times, including two weeks ago against the Denver Broncos in London.

First-year head coach Aaron Glenn stuck with starting quarterback Justin Fields against the Panthers before pulling him in the second half in favor of former Virginia Tech signal caller Tyrod Taylor. Glenn was not committed as to who was going to start this week against the Cincinnati Bengals and former Jets QB Joe Flacco. However, Rich Cimini of ESPN reported that it's leaning toward Taylor.

While it would be great to see Taylor start, and if he does, he'll be doing so after New York owner Woody Johnson ripped Fields apart while defending Glenn.

"It looks like he's turning around parts of it," Johnson said of Glenn. "You know, it's hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that we've got. He has ability, but something is just not jiving. But if you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you're going to see similar results across the league. You have to play consistently at that position, and that's what we're going to try to do."

Tyrod Taylor reportedly to start against Bengals

It remains to be seen if Taylor does indeed start against the Bengals; he'll be replacing Fields, who has had some rough games. He has completed just 63.7% for 845 yards, four touchdowns, and he has been sacked a whopping 22 times.

"If we could complete a pass, it would look good," Johnson said of his team.

The bar isn't high for Taylor in replacing Fields if he does, but during his NFL career, Taylor has proven to be a backup who can come into the game and lead a team and play well enough to win some games as an efficient passer. It wouldn't be surprising to see Taylor lead the Jets to their first win at some point this season.
