Since the Transfer Portal opened, new Virginia Tech football coach James Franklin has been very aggressive on both sides of the ball, making some additions. Offensively, the Hokies have a big need for a couple of quarterbacks, and they secured one on Saturday afternoon when North Carolina transfer Bryce Baker committed to Virginia Tech.

Another QB is needed, and despite no official announcement yet, the Hokies are reportedly going to get former Penn State quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer. Until it's official, it's Baker, Tech true freshman A.J. Brand, and Kelden Ryan, along with Class of 2026 incoming freshman Troy Huhn. Another question is who the quarterbacks are going to throw to on the outside. Virginia Tech has seen Cam Seldon hit the portal, but they have got some retention from some young receivers.

Shortly after Baker announced his commitment to the Hokies, another ACC player in the Transfer Portal committed to Virginia Tech, when Duke wide receiver Que'Sean Brown announced he was going to play the 2026 season in Blacksburg.

In 2025, for Manny Diaz and the Blue Devils, Brown had 62 receptions and 846 yards, and five touchdowns. In 2024 for Duke, he had 41 receptions, 445 yards, and a pair of touchdowns. The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Winston-Salem, N.C. native had 10 catches for 178 yards and two touchdowns in Duke's Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl win over Arizona State on New Year's Eve. He also had seven catches for 108 yards and a touchdown in a win over California in October.

He should be a very big, impactful receiver next season for the Hokies, and he's the second wide receiver portal commit this cycle, joining Penn State transfer Jeff Exinor, Jr. Brown picked Virginia Tech over California, Missouri, Louisville, and Florida. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
