James Franklin has been quickly loading up in the Class of 2026 since being hired at Virginia Tech along the trenches. He has flipped multiple Penn State offensive linemen to Blacksburg since being hired, while Penn State is still looking for a head coach.

Recruiting along the offensive line is a must for the future of the Hokies, and Franklin has added some key pieces on the defensive side of the ball. As far as skill position players go, Franklin has been slowly adding some pieces, and he added a big-time playmaker on Tuesday in adding a former Penn State commit.

Virginia Tech gets commitment from three-star WR Davion Brown

Last week, Franklin got a commitment from running back Messiah Mickens, and then on Thanksgiving, tight end Pierce Petersohn committed. On Monday, quarterback Troy Huhn committed, and Franklin added him as a play-making wide receiver when Virginia native Davion Brown committed after previously committing to the Hokies' new coach at Penn State.

Brown is a three-star receiver who can play in the slot as well as on the outside. He has amassed over 3,000 receiving yards at Trinity Episcopal. As a senior, he averaged 24.5 yards a catch and had 26 receptions for 638 yards and nine touchdowns. He also rushed for 284 yards on 31 carries and eight touchdowns. What an addition to the class for the Hokies.

He held a slew of Division 1 offers, but in the end and like so many other recruits in the class, he is following Franklin to Virginia Tech, and he will stay home and play his college football, which is something that clearly means a lot to him.

“Having Virginia as part of his logo, it hits a little different,” Brown told 247Sports.

Signing day is Wednesday and it is lining up to be a big for Franklin and Virginia Tech.
