It has been eight days since James Franklin was named the next head coach at Virginia Tech. The former Penn State coach hit the ground running with recruiting and brought in a slew of recruits to Blacksburg this past weekend.
So far, he has hit the jackpot in recruiting, and on Tuesday night, he landed his first recruit when four-star running back Messiah Mickens committed to Virginia Tech. Franklin has been quiet on social media since arriving in Blacksburg, as he has been doing a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews. Tuesday night, before it was official that Mickens was coming to Blacksburg, he had his first social media posts as the Hokies' new head coach.

Former coach Brent Pry was active on social media with posts right before the Hokies would officially land a commitment during his tenure. He also posted his weekly "1-0" at the beginning of game weeks. While Franklin has been quiet on social media, he dropped his first post right before the Mickens commitment was announced.

Franklin appears he going to be using a "Welcome to the 'Burg!" post, which is different. However, this is hopefully just the first of many posts from Franklin to come. There were several recruits on campus this past weekend, and he'll be hosting this upcoming weekend when the Hokies are in Charlottesville to play Virginia in the annual Commonwealth Cup.
Early-signing day is just around the corner, and decisions are going to be made fast by some of the recruits who are committed to other programs or players who have de-committed from other programs and are looking for a new home in 2026 and beyond. Everyone should be on the lookout for more coming soon.
