When Brent Pry was the head football coach at Virginia Tech, he was in the mix for some of the nation's top recruits. One of those recruits was four-star safety Faheem Delane. There was a tie to Virginia Tech during his recruitment, with his older brother Mansoor playing for the Hokies.
Along with Virginia Tech, Oregon, Maryland, Ohio State, LSU, Colorado, and others were heavily in on Faheem. he ended up committing to the Buckeyes, which wasn't surprising. On Saturday, he announced that he intends to enter the Transfer Portal after just one season in Columbus.
Former Ohio State safety Faheem Delane to enter the Transfer Portal
When the dust settled, Mansoor Delane ended up leaving Virginia Tech last winter through the Transfer Portal, and he ended up at LSU. After a good season for the Tigers, he is expected to be a first-round pick in April's NFL Draft, which is frustrating for Hokies fans after he played well in Blacksburg.
Faheem will enter the portal himself for the first time this cycle and will be highly sought after; there is no doubt about that. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Hokies, Franklin, and Pry get into the mix for the talented safety. What an addition to the Virginia Tech secondary he would be.
He played in 13 games for Ohio State in 2025. He mostly played on special teams and collected 12 tackles and one for a loss. He was expected to have a chance at a bigger role next season for the Buckeyes, but instead is opting for the portal.
Virginia Tech needs secondary help next season for Pry, who is coming back to Virginia Tech to be Franklin's defensive coordinator after a successful stint in the position at Penn State before being named head coach in Blacksburg. It might be a long shot at best, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Hokies kick the tires on Faheem Delane.
