Virginia Tech football coach James Franklin is going to see recruiting heat up with the Class of 2027. Franklin has been making strides with some recruits, as visits are being lined up for this spring. There are several three and four-star recruits that the Hokies will be hosting for visits in the coming months.
One position that Virginia Tech didn't recruit as much as they would have liked or landed as many recruits as they would have liked is at the tight end position. That is a position that has not been used as much as some would have liked in recent years. However, Franklin quickly landed a commitment when he flipped Pierce Petersohn from Penn State to Virginia Tech after he was hired in Blacksburg. He should come in and make an impact and add depth to a room that returns some key pieces.
As for looking ahead to the future, one tight end in the Class of 2027 is drawing a lot of interest, and Virginia Tech is in the mix for him.

Four-star tight end Jordan Karhoff of Columbus, Ohio, opened some eyes at the The Opening Regional held inside the Indianapolis Colts facility this past weekend. The 6-foot-4 star from St. Francis DeSales is high on the Hokies. According to Rivals, Virginia Tech and Texas A&M are front-runners for Karhoff.
One of the more highly-touted prospects in his class, Karhoff was recruited by Franklin and his staff at Penn State, but now that he has moved on to Virginia Tech and brought Ty Howle with him, that has Karhoff interested in the Hokies. He is going to take a visit in late May to Virginia Tech, where he'll likely catch up with Penn State transfer quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, whom Karhoff knows, as he, too, is from Columbus.
