To say that the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team’s start to the 2024-25 has been up-and-down and a roller-coaster ride would be an understatement. After winning their first three games, the Hokies went on a six-game losing streak, but have won their last two games over North Carolina A&T and Navy.

Mike Young’s team will play their final non-conference game of the season on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Philadelphia for the 2024 Holiday Hoopfest against Saint Joseph’s at The Palestra. After this game, the Hokies will have 10 days off before returning to the court on New Year’s Eve at Duke to pick up ACC play.

How to Watch Virginia Tech vs. Saint Joseph’s men’s basketball

Just how the Hokies fare in the ACC remains to be seen, but winning this game would be a nice springboard going into conference play. A 6-6 record for the holiday break would sound better than 5-7. Here is all the information to watch the last Hokies’ game before Christmas.

Date: Saturday, Dec. 21
Time: 12:00 p.m.
Venue: The Palestra, Philadelphia, Pa.
How to Watch: CBS Sports Network or FuboTV
Virginia Tech Record: 5-6
Saint Joseph Record: 7-4

This will be a neutral court game for Virginia Tech and they will be looking for their first win away from Blacksburg. If the Hokies are going to get a win, they’ll need to take care of the basketball and get production from their bench, which played a huge role in their last two wins. Defensively, getting stops consistently will be key while avoiding long-scoring droughts on the offensive end. Like any other team, when the 3-point shot is falling, Virginia Tech’s offense is flowing.

In the end, if Virginia Tech remains a consistent team away from Cassell Coliseum, the bet here is to go with Saint Joseph’s, even on a neutral court.
