Winners of five of seven games in January, the Virginia Tech women's basketball team will hit the road Sunday night for a huge ACC game at North Carolina State. The Wolfpack are ranked 20th in the country.
This is the only matchup this season between the two teams and it is a golden opportunity for the Hokies to pick up a big NCAA Tournament résumé victory. This will be another tough ACC road game for Megan Duffy and her team after losing in December at Duke, but knocking previously undefeated Georgia Tech in Atlanta earlier this month. NC State will be just as tough of a challenge.
How to watch Virginia Tech at NC State women's basketball game
This season the Wolfpack is 11-0 at home and coming off of narrow wins over Virginia and Syracuse. They are on a four-game winning streak and looking to solidify a Top 16-seed in the NCAA Tournament to secure the first and second rounds of the tourney in Raleigh.
Date: Sunday, Jan. 26
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Venue: Reynolds Coliseum
How to Watch: ACC Network, ESPN.com, ESPN+, or FuboTV
Virginia Tech Record: 14-5 (5-3 ACC)
North Carolina State Record: 15-4 (7-1 ACC)
If Virginia Tech is going to pick up an upset on the road, they'll need to get another 40-minute balanced scoring effort. Four of their five starters are averaging double-digits a night with Lani White just under that. After allowing 73 points to Virginia 10 days ago, the Hokies have responded with two good defensive performances against Louisville and Pittsburgh.
This begins a brutal week schedule-wise for Virginia Tech who will return home Thursday night to host Notre Dame at Cassell Coliseum. Both NC State and the Irish are going to finish near the top of the conference standings and a win against either of them would be huge for the Hokies closing out the month of January.
