The Virginia Tech and Wisconsin football teams were supposed to play a home-and-home series in 2008 and 2009. Currently, the series hasn't been played yet after it has been pushed back multiple times because of scheduling conflicts. Right now, the series is scheduled for 2031 and 2032, but on Wednesday, there was a scheduling update.

The game is moving in 2031 from Lane Stadium in Blacksburg to Charlotte on Aug. 30 at Bank of America Stadium and will be played as part of the Duke's Mayo Classic. This is a strange move for Virginia Tech to make, losing a home game in Blacksburg and returning, as of now, to Camp Randall Stadium in Madison to visit the Badgers. Yes, we are six years away from this game even remotely being played, and there will likely be more changes in the series, but if Wisconsin's home game is played at Camp Randall, then this is a bizarre decision from Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech gives away home game against Wisconsin in 2031

There must be a big financial deal for Virginia Tech to give up a home game that, without a doubt, would have been sold out at Lane Stadium to play at night in Charlotte. Either that or there is a future announcement that the game in Madison is being moved to, say, Lambeau Field, in Green Bay, in 2032? If not, then this is one head-scratching move from Virginia Tech.

The school has more pressing issues currently after firing Brent Pry on Sunday and looking for a new coach. It also sounds like the athletic department is going to go through some changes as well, and the current administration might not even be around in six years, and who knows if the new coach will be. However, this is another strange decision from a program struggling to find anything positive right now.
